Bargain Shopping for Halloween Costumes in McKinney

Saving money on Halloween costumes does not have to be as difficult as you think. While there are costumes that cost over $100, there are plenty others to choose from under $25. In fact, the accessories you buy to go with your Halloween costume can be what breaks the budget. The most important thing you have to do is determine a budget and refuse to go over it.

Halloween Stores

You may not think you will get a good deal from those Halloween stores you see open in October that sell everything from costumes to decorations to accessories. While some of the items they offer will be on the more expensive side of things, you will still find deals there. This is especially true the closer to Halloween you get. Of course, if you are looking for something specific you don’t want to leave it too late, so this method is best if you’re open to what your Halloween costume will be this year.

If you are fairly open, consider shopping on Halloween or one of the last days they are open this year. Prices will be dramatically reduced in order to get rid of merchandise. While this may be too late for you to wear the costume this year, you can buy a great costume for next year at the fraction of its original cost. The same goes for decorations and accessories.

Thrift Stores

Consider making a semi-homemade costume using cheap clothing you find at a McKinney thrift store. You may not want to tear up one of your own suits to be a zombie, but if you can find a cheap suit jacket at the store that could change. Prom dresses, cocktail dresses, and even t-shirts can be used for a variety of Halloween costumes.

Similar to thrift stores, go around to garage sales in McKinney neighborhoods. Even if you don’t see a costume you necessarily want to dress up in, you may be able to use bits and pieces from several different costumes to use.

Dollar Stores

Never forget to stop at a dollar store in McKinney to see what Halloween costumes they have. While the selection may be limited, you can pick up a few accessories to go with your costume. At a dollar a piece, you can easily fit these into your budget. The more money you save here, the extra money you can spend on another part of your costume or can pocket to pay for an extra drink on your pub crawl.
