Grand Prairie Mix and Match Halloween Costume Tips

Buying a Halloween costume every year can truly add up. Even making one that is homemade can end up costing a lot of money once you have bought all the materials and accessories to go with it. If you want to save some money this year, consider putting together a costume using pieces of costumes from previous years. It may take some creativity but you will have a unique costume, or a humorous one, that friends will enjoy as much as you.

Save Your Halloween Costumes

Every year you buy a new Halloween costume in Grand Prairie but how many times do you actually wear it? Rather than getting rid of it after one or two wears, store it for later. Hang your costumes together in one garment bag or fold them carefully into a zip-lock bag and keep them all together so they are easy to find when you want them.

Keep an Open Mind

If you want to mix and match previous costumes to make one for this Halloween, don’t have an idea set in stone. You will have to be open to thinking of an idea once you see all the different pieces you can use. If you have a particular costume in mind, odds are you will have to go to the store and buy it or make it completely from scratch using different materials.

If you don’t have a certain costume in mind, you can go through your closet and take a look at previous Halloween costumes along with the materials you already have and come up with an idea. This way, anything you will have to buy in a Grand Prairie store is minimal.

Look at What You Have

Grab all of your old Halloween costumes and lay them out so you can see all the different pieces you have. Are any tops and bottoms from different costumes able to work well together? Are you able to layer several costume pieces to make it look differently? If you were dressed as a medieval princess one year you could easily discard the crown and add vampire teeth for a totally different look. If you were a ghost, you could simply turn those shaggy grey clothes into a zombie outfit.

Don’t Forget the Accessories

No matter what costume you have, accessories are what truly brings it out. If you were a Playboy bunny one year, you could discard the bunny tail and ears and add fairy wings to be a fairy. Even if you have to buy one or two accessories, it will generally be cheaper than if you had to buy a completely new costume.
