Austin Halloween Events

Halloween in Austin will make you love the city even more. If you are looking for kid-friendly Halloween activities in Austin, you will find that you and the kids have more than enough options to keep you busy throughout the entire month of October. From the Austin Zoo to a Spook-Tacular Fireworks show, Austin’s got your back for your Halloween plans this year.

Boo at the Zoo

The Austin Zoo hosts Boo at the Zoo which includes a train ride, a haunted house, and a show with Safari Greg on October 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th.  Boo at the Zoo happens after regular zoo hours so if your kids are afraid of the dark, consider going as early as you can. Bring flashlights so you can walk around the zoo and see the nocturnal animals up and about. Then, take a ride on the Haunted Train Ride for some more kid-friendly thrills. Call the Austin Zoo at 512-288-1490 to book your tickets!

Goblins in the Garden

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center has an annual Goblins in the Garden event which is being held Sunday, October 27th, 2013 from 4PM to 7PM. You can come dressed up in costumes and participate in the costume parade. Coming dressed as a ladybug, spider, moth, butterfly, and other fluttery friends is encouraged!  You can get 20% off your Goblins in the Garden costumes now through October 25th, if you go through Spirit Halloween.

The event will have candy stations for kids to trick or treat throughout the gardens. Face and body painting, a juggler, magician, and balloon twisters will also be there.

Kids will love the Not-So-Haunted Tower where witches will cast spells and read stories at certain times throughout the event. Do some crafts, go on a scavenger hunt, and you can even get a free treat from the store for kids 12 and under.

Halloween Children’s Concert

Considering Austin is the place to be for live music, it only makes sense for this to be true for children on Halloween. The Austin Symphony has an annual Halloween concert with spooktacular songs you and the kids will enjoy on Sunday, October 27th, at 2PM! Get your tickets before they’re all gone! Come dressed in your costume and help haunt Long Center’s Dell Hall while listening to “boo-tiful” music.
