Top 5 Halloween Movies

There is a never ending list of Halloween movies to choose from if you want a little scare. With a dark room and popcorn, some movies are sure to get you in the haunting mood even if it isn’t anywhere near Halloween.

Suspense and gore are common factors among Halloween movies. Over the years, these movies have made even the most unscarable of us all want to close their eyes.

1. Halloween (1978)

The opening of the film sets the mood of the film with Michael Myers killing his sisters with a kitchen knife. This movie all but perfected the popular style of horror movies over the years and has had seven sequels, as well as a remake in 2007. Even after 35 years, fans can’t get enough of the chilling scenes throughout this Halloween move.

2. The Shining (1980)

You can’t go through life without watching “The Shining” at least once. With psychological and physical horror, it’s the perfect mix for Halloween. You can watch it to enjoy the scares, as well as be mesmerized by the plot.

3. Let the Right One In (2008)

You will not be bored with the scares, blood, and gore that come with this movie. It is a European movie and does spend a lot of time with character development, but that just makes it that much more better. This is one of the best horror films that has been made in recent years and comes with a mix of horror and romance as it is about a young boy who falls in love with a vampire girl. Don’t worry, it is nothing like other recent vampire movies.

4. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

This movie came out throughout the slasher craze following “Halloween” and “Friday the 13th” but was one of the more creative movies of the time. The movie features Freddy Kruger, who haunts children in their dreams in order to seek revenge on their parents who burned him alive after he got away with murdering a child. There have been five sequels to this movie, but this is definitely the most serious of them all.

5. The Amityville Horror (1979)
